Life is all about moments
Moments is a photo journal where I’ll be sharing stories and memories from my travels.
Quiet minutes with your coffee watching the sun rise, shared adventures, time spent out in the wild. Moments is a photo journal where I’m going to be sharing stories and memories from my travels and day’s spent behind the lens. I’ll take a deeper look at photos from my archives, a lot of which have never been seen before and share unheard stories from my adventures.
I’ve had quite a bit of time away from photography, years if I’m honest. I was focussed on running my product business, Neon Gray and it was all consuming. Last year I went on a break away to Newcastle and realised that I needed to walk away from running a business for a while. I was utterly burnt out. No longer creating work for fun, no longer photographing anything at all really. I needed to rediscover my love for photography again. I have and it’s been a bit of re-birth of sorts. As cringey as that might sound.
I set about putting the bones of a new website together, along with this new Substack, entered a couple of competitions and I’m taking part in my first exhibition in an absolute age this month. I’m right back where I was many many years ago when I was first finding my feet in the photography world.
Back then, Instagram hadn’t been released, my husband (then boyfriend) had cobbled together my website and I was struggling to get people interested in the hundreds and thousands of travel images I had, with magazine features here and there, some stock sales, a few print sales. Now though, the landscape feels very different and I’m excited to just take up a bit of space and share my work again.
Sifting through my hard drives and familiarising myself with images that haven’t seen the light of day has been amazing. Picking out photos with fresh eyes that I want to process feels like a gift. I’m looking forward to curating some collections, maybe even putting a zine or 2 together or (gasp) a book. All the while, drafting stories to tell.
That’s the beautiful thing about Substack, the inspiring stories that are shared. By discovering and subscribing to so many brilliant photographers, I’ve curated my own perpetual photo magazine which I’ll be constantly adding to.
I want this journal to be about exploring and coming home with memories as much as it is photography. So, I’ll be working on Issue 1, Volume 1, #001… (haven’t quite decided how I want this to go yet) over the next week or two. In the meantime, drop me a comment and say hello, I’d love to discover some more great Substacks.

A big ‘yes, please!’ to you taking up space and sharing your work again! 🙌🥰
